The KAIZEN BLITZ (Improvement Workshop) is a powerful tool for involving work teams in improving their work environments, streamlines work processes, and dramatically transforms the workplace.

Usually 3 to 5 days in length, these workshops typically allow for significant reductions in inventory, reductions in cycle times, redesign of the flow of parts, and removal of vast amounts of unnecessary items from the workplace. Other benefits are a greater understaning of the work flow, required resources, and an understanding of how workers can continue to improve their work areas for the future.

In order to become certified to perform Improvement Workshops, NWLEAN employs a 'I DO, WE DO, YOU DO' model. This model allows prosepctive candidates to observe the planning process and a successful workshop, then to participate in a workshop with guidance from a skilled practitioner, then to direct a workshop under appropriate supervision & observation. The individuals who demonstrate the knowledge and skill to obtain results from these workshops are certified to perform these workshops by The Northwest Lean Manufacturing Network, Inc.

Improvement Workshops typically contain the following elements, which are covered in this certification series:

  • Workshop pre-planning conferencing
  • Defining of target area
  • Setting improvement goals
  • Workshop pre-planning
  • Team building/bonding/training
  • Defining the current/future state
  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Management review/report-out on improvements made
  • Sustaining workshop improvements for the future

Typically 4 to 6 candidates from supervision and management ranks are identified to participate in the certification series. One candidate is eligible to earn the Senior Lean Workshop Leader Certification, while the others are eligible to earn the Lean Workshop Facilitator Certification.

These in-house workshops combines theory and practice to provide your people with the information & skills they need, and provide an environment where they can make positive changes in a limited amount of time. NWLEAN provides this workshop IN YOUR FACILITY, and will work with you to ensure that the sessions contain information focused on YOUR facility and YOUR situation.
